Email: admin@aculeus.com.au

Aculeus is here to help veterans access safe, evidence-based care aimed at improving function, pain management, independence and quality of life.

Website content and communications from Aculeus administration staff do not constitute medical advice. Medical advice must come from an appropriately registered health practitioner involved in your care.

You may be required to create an account to access forms, resources, appointment information, treatment documents or patient services.

You are responsible for keeping your login details secure. If you believe your account has been accessed without permission, you must notify Aculeus promptly.

You agree to provide accurate, complete and up-to-date information, including your name, date of birth, contact details, Medicare details, DVA card details where applicable, accepted condition information, medical history, medications, allergies and any other information relevant to your care.

Failure to provide complete and accurate information may affect your suitability for treatment or access to services.

Aculeus may provide or coordinate access to:

  • Telehealth consultations
  • Face-to-face GP appointments
  • Chronic pain assessment and management
  • Rehabilitation physician and/or pain specialist support
  • Medication reviews and prescribing where clinically appropriate
  • DVA-related clinical documentation and support
  • Accepted condition review and treatment planning

Services may be delivered by Aculeus clinicians, independent practitioners, local GPs, specialists, allied health practitioners, pharmacies or third-party providers.

Aculeus does not guarantee that any specific treatment, medication, referral, equipment request, DVA pathway or funding request will be approved.

No Emergency or Crisis Service

Aculeus is not an emergency service.

If you are experiencing chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe allergic reaction, suicidal thoughts, severe mental health crisis, overdose, acute neurological symptoms, severe injury or any urgent medical concern, call 000 or attend your nearest emergency department.

Clinical Suitability

All treatment is subject to clinical assessment.

A practitioner may decide that a service, medication, referral, treatment plan or telehealth appointment is not suitable for you. In some cases, you may be advised to see a GP or specialist face-to-face before treatment can proceed.

Aculeus does not warrant that telehealth is suitable for every patient or every condition.

Face-to-Face Appointments

Some patients may be required to attend a face-to-face GP appointment as part of their care, prescribing requirements, clinical review, DVA requirements, regulatory obligations or practitioner assessment.

Aculeus may assist with identifying local GP options where available, but availability may vary by location.

Prescriptions and Pharmacy

Aculeus is not a pharmacy and does not dispense medications.

Where a practitioner issues a prescription, it may be sent electronically to you or, where appropriate and with relevant consent, to a pharmacy for dispensing.

The pharmacy is responsible for dispensing, medication supply, delivery, pricing, product availability and pharmacy advice.

Medication costs, delivery costs and pharmacy fees are separate from Aculeus consultation services unless otherwise stated.

DVA, Medicare and Funding

Some services may be available with no out-of-pocket consultation cost for eligible patients, depending on Medicare, DVA, practitioner billing arrangements and clinical eligibility.

Eligibility may depend on factors including DVA card type, accepted conditions, Medicare eligibility, referral requirements, location, service type and practitioner assessment.

Aculeus does not guarantee DVA, Medicare or third-party funding approval.

Where Medicare or DVA billing applies, you may be required to provide consent to assignment of benefits or relevant billing processes.

Equipment and Rehabilitation Support

Aculeus may provide guidance regarding rehabilitation, mobility, pain management or daily living equipment pathways.

Aculeus does not approve DVA equipment funding and does not guarantee that any equipment request will be approved, supplied or funded.

Final decisions may rest with DVA, contracted suppliers, treating clinicians, funding bodies or other relevant organisations.

Practitioner Relationship

Practitioners providing care through or in association with Aculeus are responsible for their own clinical decisions, documentation, prescribing, referrals and advice.

Practitioners have professional obligations equivalent to in-person care, including maintaining clinical records as required by law.

Aculeus may hold, manage or access relevant records for administrative, clinical coordination, compliance and continuity of care purposes.
